JAMES LEMPRIERE ANLEY died at his residence, Oakley, Cheltenham, on the 25th December, 1908, aged 78.
He was a pupil of the late Mr. John Harrison, and after the expiration of his articles he obtained employment on the construction of the Cornwall Railway.
Subsequently he went to India, and joined the staff of the East Indian Railway, which was then under construction. After serving for a number of years at Mirzapore and as Resident Engineer at Jubbulpore, he resigned his appointment in 1864, and, returning home, he lived in retirement until his death.
Mr. Anley was elected an Associate of the Institution on the 3rd December, 1861, and was subsequently placed in the class of Associate Members.
