Major JAMES HENRY GRIEVE, R.A.O.C., was a student at the Royal Technical College, Salford, and gained his engineering experience with several well-known engineering firms in Manchester, including the Manchester Steam Users' Association, Messrs. Heenan and Froude, and Messrs. Royce.
He later became manager for Mr. J. Crawford, consulting engineer.
In 1917 he was granted a commission in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps as an inspector of machinery, and after the War he was posted to the Military Inter- Allied Commission of Control (Armaments) in Germany.
After one or two short engagements, he joined the British Thomson-Houston Company at Willesden in 1924, but he was compelled to resign on account of ill-health in 1925.
His death occurred on 16th June 1927 in his forty-fifth year.
He became an Associate Member of the Institution in 1923.
