James Colley March (1783-1858) Sometimes described as a solicitor and surgeon of Barnstaple

1783 July 30th. Baptised at Barnstaple the son of Richard March and his wife Mary.

1816 Partnership dissolved. '...Partnership between us the undersigned, Thomas Scott, James Colley March, and Samuel March, all of Barnstaple, in the County of Devon, Manufacturers of Elastic Cloth and Bleachers of Straw, was this day dissolved by mutual consent...'[1]

1830 Listed under Surgeons as 'March James Colley, Boutport st.'[2]

1841 Living at Boutport Street, Barnstaple: James March (age c50), Surgeon. With Thomas March (age c45). One servant.[3]

1844 Listed under Surgeons as 'March James Colley, Boutport st.'[4]

1851 Living at Boutport Street, Barnstaple: James Colley March, (age 65 born Devon), general Practioner before 1815. Unmarried. Two servants.[5]

1859 'Manufacture of the well-known MALT and OAT BRUISING MILLS, known as MARCH'S PATENT MILL'. This was taken over by the Barnstaple Foundry
