James Armitage Brown (c1809-1896) of Huxham and Browns and Huxhams and Brown

c1809 Born at Hampstead the son of John Armitage Brown and his wife Jane Elizabeth Mavor

1842 Married at Exeter to Mary Vavasour Huxham (1811-1886) the daughter of William Huxham

1851 Living at 52 Alphington Road, Exeter: Charles Huxham (age 33 born Exeter), Iron Founder employing with his partners 41 men and boys as Huxham and Brown. Also his brother Frederick Huxham (age 46 born Exeter), partner see above. Also James A. Brown (age 41 born Hampstead, Mddx.) partner see above. His wife Mary V. Brown (age 39 born Exeter), and their children Ralph A. Brown (age 7 born Exeter), Charles A. Brown (age 5 born Exeter), Edward V. Brown (age 3 born Exeter), Margaret M. Brown (age 2 born Exeter), and Female Infant Not Named Brown (age 1 Month born Exeter). Two servants.[1]

Brown (age 56 born Exeter, St. Thomas) and their two children; Charles A. Brown (age 24 born Exeter, St. Thomas) and Mary A. Brown (age 20 born Exeter, St. Thomas). Also his Brother-in-Law Charles Huxham (age 63 born Exeter, St. Thomas), Engineer and Ironfounder. One servant.[2]

1881 Living at 2 Regent's Park, Exeter: James A. Brown (age 71 born Hampstead, Mddx.), Manufacturing Engineer Employing 44 Men & 8 Boys. With his wife Mary V. Brown (age 66 born Exeter) and their three children; Chas. A. Brown (age 34 born Exeter), Manufacturing Engineer; Edwd. V. Brown (age 32 born Exeter), Manufacturing Engineer; and Margt. M. Brown (age 28 born Exeter). Two servants.[3]

1891 Living at 2 Regent's Park, Exeter: James A. Brown (age 81 born Hampstead, Mddx.), Steam Engine manufacturer - Employer - Widower. With his three children; Charley A. Brown (age 44 born Devon), Steam Engine manufacturer - Employer; Edward V. Brown (age 42 born Devon), Steam Engine manufacturer - Employer; and Margaret M. Brown (age 39 born Devon). Two servants.[4]

1896 July 4th. Died in London, of 2 Regent's Park, Heavitree, age 87.[5]
