1897 Public issue of shares to acquire T. E. Chapman and Son, brewers and wine and spirit merchants of Sunderland[1]

1957 Under a reciprocal agreement with Ind Coope, started offering Double Diamond beer alongside its own products[2]

1959 Acquired The West Auckland Brewery Co. Reciprocal agreement with Charringtons to sell their Toby Ale product; in return would supply Double Lion Export Ale to Charringtons.

1984 Acquired by the Barclay Brothers when they bought the Ellerman Lines shipping group[3]

1989 Was a subsidiary of Ellerman Holdings when this was acquired by Brent Walker Group[4]
