1885-8 Apprenticed with J. Wood and Sons, mechanical engineers, of Swanley Junction

1888-91 Worked for John Dickinson and Sons, of Sunderland

1891-1901 Principal of Eddison and De Mattos, agricultural and road locomotive engineers
