1962 Monty Finniston, technical director at C. A. Parsons and Co, persuaded the Parsons' board to convert the whole nuclear research operation into the International Research and Development Co (IRDC), broadening its work beyond the nuclear field.
1964 IRDC was a subsidiary of Parsons[1]
1974 In conjunction with A. M. G. Zuubier of Doncaster, developed a laser system that could detect methane and other infra-red absorbing gases.[2]
