1962 W. and A. Gilbey merged with United Wine Traders and became International Distillers and Vintners.

1972 Brewers Watney Mann took over the business, and was absorbed by Grand Metropolitan the same year.

1997 After the merger that formed Diageo, the spirits parts of the 2 businesses, United Distillers and International Distillers and Vintners, were merged to create United Distillers and Vintners.
