Hytork Actuators valve operator manufacturer of Gloucester.
1973 Founded by Ross Stewart.
1977 Sold to Serck Group. Became part of Serck Audco Valves
1981 Serck Group was taken over by BTR Industries.
Hytork came under threat because BTR also owned rival actuator manufacturers Norbro Engineering which had a yearly turnover of £12 million compared to Hytork's tripling of turnover to £2 million in two years. The two companies' different product ranges prevented any chance of a merger and the continuation of Hytork was threatened.[1]
1982 Hytork was bought out by its management and saved from closure. Ross Stewart became MD and owner of the company once more.[2]
