1929 Competed in the Le Mans race with L. G. Callingham in a Bentley[7]
1934 Financed the establishment of English Racing Automobiles (ERA), which was led by Raymond Mays
1939 Humphrey Cook withdrew his sponsorship of ERA[8] having opposed the plans of Mays and Berthon to establish Automobile Developments Ltd.
1941 Married Annie Moffett[9]
1946 Still controlled ERA; proposed to make a modified version of the last cars produced before the war in his new workshops at Dunstable[10]
