HUGH WILLIAM WADDLE died on Monday, November 5, 1906, at Torquay. He was born in 1845, and was the eldest surviving son of the late John Roberts Waddle, the original inventor of the Waddle fan, and was prominently identified with the improvements which have been made of recent years in mining ventilation. He was a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and of the Institution of Mining Engineers.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1898.

HUGH WILLIAM WADDLE was born at Llanelly on 7th February 1845, and was the eldest son of the late Mr. J. Roberts Waddle, inventor of the mine ventilating fan bearing his name. Having been educated at private schools, he served his time under his father at the Llanmore Iron Works, Llanelly, and was appointed manager in 1877.
In 1888 he became the principal owner and managing director of the firm, which was called the Waddle Patent Fan and Engineering Co.
His death took place at Torquay on 6th November 1906, in his sixty-second year.
He became a Member of this Institution in 1898
