Howard Lane (1852-1924) of Birmingham, consulting engineer to Messrs. S. Walker, Ltd., hydraulic and general engineering contractors, of Fazeley Street, Birmingham.

1852 Born in Leek Wooton, Warwickshire[1]

1887 In partnership as Howard Lane and Co, engineers and contractors

1891 Howard Lane 38, civil engineer, lived in Edgbaston with Ethel F Lane 31[2]

1900 of 484, Corporation Street, Birmingham. Director of Hydro-Pneumatic Traction Syndicate, Ltd.

Developed a "stretch tester" for testing gas cylinders that was made available by the Hydro-Kinetic Engineering Syndicate Ltd[3]

1901 Howard Lane 48, consulting mechanical engineer, lived in Erdington with Ethel Lane 40[4]

1903 Started to develop an interest in production of hydrogen

1908 Engineer, of 125 Edmund St., Birmingham; T.A. "Pneumatics"[5]

1911 Howard Lane 58, consulting engineer, lived in Rochester Row, Westminster, with Ethel Florence Lane 51[6]

1917 Demonstrated an experimental plant for hydrogenating oils in order to harden them that was in use at The Laboratory, Ashford, Middx[7]

1924 Died in Windsor district[8]
