Horace Short (1872-1917) of Short Brothers
Early 20th century: Horace ran an acoustic laboratory for Thomas Edison's European agent, Col. Gouraud, in Hove, Sussex
1903 Horace left Hove to concentrate on steam turbine development (presumably with C. A. Parsons and Co)
1908 Horace left employment with Charles Algernon Parsons in December to join with brothers in forming Short Brothers
