1946 Company incorporated to acquire several companies in Nottingham. Public offer of shares[1]. Companies acquired included:
- G. and W. N. Hicking
- Lindley and Lindley
- Adams and Co
- Hicking and Pentecost, which owned 86 percent of Lace Gassing Co, founded 1915
- W. J. and T. Lambert and Co
all in the Nottingham area.
1989 The company was still described as a textile group when 14.8 percent of its shares were acquired by Robertshaw Holdings[2]
1990 The company was described as a diversified group (clothing manufacture to steel forgings)[3]
1993 The textiles to specialist-products group was ungeared and seeking acquisitions[4]
1994 Acquired Dewey Waters, maker of water storage systems, from Bimec Industries which was in receivership[5].
1997 Described as specialist industrial threads company[6]
1999 Hicking Pentecost, which owned Barbour Threads, was acquired by rival Coats Viyella[7]
