"HENRY WILLIAM YOUNG was born in 1871 and received his education in Witney, Oxon. He worked in the shops of Daniel Young, Witney, his father's business, from 1885 to 1891, and during this time he studied privately and spent two years at Crewe Mechanics' Institute. In 1891 he was made assistant manager, and three years later manager of his father's firm, and in 1901 he became the proprietor of the business.
During the Great War he was a member of the Oxfordshire Board of Management for Munitions and he was manager of the shell factory of W. R. M. Motors, Ltd., Cowley. He became general engineer to Morris Motors, Ltd., Cowley, in 1919, and in 1926 he became a director of this company. He was responsible for all the building extensions of this company from 1918 onwards, as well as the power and machinery in the works. He held this position, together with the senior directorship of Messrs. Daniel Young, Ltd., until his death, which occurred on 27th August 1939. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1906 and was transferred to Membership in 1925."
