HENRY LEONARD STABLES, born on the 14th July, 1847, dicd at Flitwick, Bedfordshire, on the 25th May, 1915.
On completing his training, he served as a contractor's engineer on railways in this country, Hungary and Brazil. From 1874 to 1884, with a short interval in Brazil, he was on the staff of the Cape Government Railways, and later he was engaged successively as Executive Engineer on the Southern Mahratta Railway, India; District Engineer on the Ceylon Government Railways; Contractor's Engineer on the Pirseus and Larissa Railway, Greece; and Chief of division on the doubling of the Sao Paulo Railway, Brazil.
From 1903 to 1906, when he retired, he carried out the De Aar-Prieska Railway in South Africa.
Mr. Stables was elected an Associate Member on the 7th February, 1882, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 3rd February, 1885.
