1952 Obituary.

Henry Hodgson Wright, who died on the 9th September, 1952, was born on the 18th May, 1870. He was educated at Marlborough and at the School of Technology, Zurich, and received his practical training with J. H. Holmes and Co., Newcastle-on-Tyne.

In 1898 he founded the firm which later became Wright Electric Motors (Hx.) Ltd., of which he was Managing Director and Chairman.

He was a keen angler and spent much time fishing in Norway, having for many years a summer cottage at Bakka, on the Hardanger Fjord. It was there that he met and subsequently married a Norwegian lady, by whom, with their one daughter, he is survived. He was a well-known freemason in the West Riding of Yorkshire, and was a member of the Yorkshire Horticultural Society, specializing in rock gardens. He was also a trustee of the Francis Crossley Almshouses, Halifax.

He joined The Institution as an Associate in 1898 and was elected an Associate Member in 1905 and a Member in 1912. He served the North Midland Centre (originally the Leeds Local Section) as an ordinary member of the Committee 1906-08, 1910-12 and 1927-29; as Vice-Chairman 1912-15; and as Chairman 1915-16.
