MR. HENRY BAYLIS, son of the late Mr. Thomas Baylis, was born on the 6th of January, 1824, and began his professional career in 1838 as pupil to his brother, Mr. G. T. Baylis, late of Birmingham, with whom he remained until 1847. During this time he was engaged on the Birmingham and Gloucester railway and in the ordinary routine of an engineer’s office.
