1912 'THE VARIATIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE HELE-SHAW PUMP ..... that well-known scientist, [[Henry Selby Hele-Shaw|Dr. H. S. Hele-Shaw]], F.R.S., is responsible for a new variative hydraulic transmission system, for which are claimed exceptionally high efficiency and other important advantages. .... Dr. Hele-Shaw, who for six years has been patiently engaged in solving the problem, has had the assistance of Mr. F. Leigh Martineau, whose quiet and unobtrusive work is only known to those who keep themselves in close touch with new developments. ....' The invention was 'controlled by' Messrs Compayne of 64 Victoria Street, London.
