HARRY HORNE ELLIOTT, second son of the late Sir Charles Elliott, was born on the 19th February, 1868, and died at Cape Town on the 31st January, 1914.
Educated at the South African College, and trained under Mr. Melville as a Land Surveyor, he entered the Cape Government Railways service in 1888. He held charge of various sections of line, and in 1904 became Resident Engineer of the western system.
In September, 1910, Mr. Elliott was appointed Maintenance Engineer of the Cape Government Railways, and held that appointment at the time of his death.
He was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 6th February, 1894, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 10th January, 1911.
