He was born in Sheffield in 1874 and received his technical education at Leeds and Holbeck Mechanics institutes and Yorkshire College. After serving his time as a premium pupil with [[J. and H. McLaren|J. and H. McLaren, Ltd]]., Midland Engine Works, Leeds, from 1890 to 1898, he took over the control of the business, which he continued to direct until his death on 15th March 1951. He was also a director of the [[Hunslet Engine Co|Hunslet Engine Company, Ltd]]. Mr. Loxton had been a Member of the institution since 1923." | |||

"HAROLD LOXTON was chairman and managing director of Hill Brothers’ Foundry Limited, Leeds, and had been head of the firm for over fifty years. He was born in Sheffield in 1874 and received his technical education at Leeds and Holbeck Mechanics institutes and Yorkshire College. After serving his time as a premium pupil with J. and H. McLaren, Ltd., Midland Engine Works, Leeds, from 1890 to 1898, he took over the control of the business, which he continued to direct until his death on 15th March 1951.
