1862 the Harlow & Sawbridgeworth Gas Light & Coke Company Limited was formed.

Harlow Gasworks were in Cambridge Road, Old Harlow.

1910 The company merged with other gas companies by Special Act to form the Bishop's Stortford, Harlow and Epping Gas and Electricity Co.

By 1924 gas production had ceased

1949 Remaining plant and site vested in the Eastern Gas Board

1957-58 a GH was under construction.
