Gypsum plasterboard originated in the USA and was introduced in the UK in 1917.

1933 Gyproc Products Ltd (which was controlled by Distillers Co) started production at Rochester and subsequently at Glasgow.

1944 Distillers Co sold Gyproc Products Ltd to British Plaster Board Ltd in exchange for shares in that company[1].
