1912 Obituary [1]

GUY SMITH, born on the 23rd January, 1839, died at Saxtead, Suffolk, on the 18th March, 1912.

He served 7 years with Messrs. Robert Stephenson and Company, of Newcastle-on-Tyne, and subsequently acted as London manager for the Barrow Hematite Steel Company

In 1868 he engaged in independent practice in the City, and until his retirement was occupied in the design and construction of machinery and plant for engineering works at home and abroad.

Mr. Smith was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 4th December, 1877.
