GRINDROD KERSHAW, who was born in 1867, retained a connection with the Rochdale district during the whole of his lifetime. He received his education at the Rochdale Technical School and at the Manchester College of Technology. On the completion of a seven years' apprenticeship with [[James Petrie and Co|Messrs. James Petrie and Company]], engineers, of Rochdale, in 1888, he entered the drawing office of [[Thomas Holt|Messrs. Thomas Holt, Ltd.]], manufacturers of textile machinery, and was first engaged upon the development of a section warping machine, of which he was one of the patentees. Subsequently he was retained by the firm as draughtsman until 1905 when he joined the board of directors. | |||

GRINDROD KERSHAW, who was born in 1867, retained a connection with the Rochdale district during the whole of his lifetime.
