Gowanbank Iron Works
1864 Established by Malcolm Cockburn (former employee of Falkirk Iron Co and Union Foundry, Camelon and former partner in Burnbank Foundry) and Andrew Cockburn and Andrew Maclaren of London. Originally known as Gowanbank Iron Works, Oakbank St, Glasgow.
1866 Dissolution of the Partnership carried on by Malcolm Cockburn and Andrew Cockburn of Falkirk, and Andrew M'Laren of London, under the Firm of the GOWANBANK IRON COMPANY, at Falkirk, in the County of Stirling, in the trade and business of Iron Founders, so far as the said Andrew M'Laren is concerned.[1]
1871 Andrew Cockburn retired from the Copartnery; the Business will in future be carried on by Malcolm Cockburn[2]
1905 The company became M. Cockburn and Co Ltd when it moved to Falkirk.
