Gottfried Ludwig (Max) Dorwald (c1873- ) of Dorwald and Co and the Putney Motor Co

Worked for Daimler in Germany for a time and later joined the German Navy where he worked on prototype submarines.

Later he is known to have set up an engineering business in London.

1901 Married in Croydon to Ida Wilhelmina J. S. Wohlbrandt

1901 Living in Thornton Heath and is a mechanical engineer.[1]

1911 Living at 41 High Street, Wandsworth: Gottfried Dorwald (age 38 born Germany), Engineering Manager - Employer. With his wife Ida Dorwald (age 34 born Germany) and their five children; Mabel Dorwald (age 11 born Brixton); Gottfried Dorwald (age 8 born Thornton Heath); Mesedes Dorwald (age 6 born East Putney); Sylvia Dorwald (age 2 born Wandsworth); and Richard Dorwald (age 1 born Wandsworth).[2]
