c1863 Born in Holmer, Herefordshire, the son of Thomas Tunks, a Brick Manufacturer, and his wife Emma

1901 Living at 156 Colum Road, Cardiff: Gilbert S. Tunks (age 38 born Holmer, Herefordshire) Mechanical Engineer - Own account. With his wife Bessie Tunks (age 35 born Cowbridge) and their four daughters; Florence Tunks (age 10 born Newport); Dolly Tunks (age 9 born Cardiff); Irene Tunks (age 5 born Cardiff); and Muriel Tunks (age 3 born Cardiff). Also Clara Brich (age 33 born Cowbridge). One servant.[1]
