GEORGE HEATON, born at Pemberton, near Wigan, on the 7th February, 1840, died at Wigan on the 8th October, 1910.
Trained under the late Mr. J. L. Hunter, he was first employed by the Wigan Corporation and the late Sir Robert Rawlinson, Past- President, and afterwards started as a Consulting Engineer at Wigan, continuing to practise until his death. He was responsible for waterworks, sewerage systems, public buildings, cemeteries, street improvements, tramways and other works, in Wigan and many of the neighbouring townships.
Mr. Heaton was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 8th January, 1884.
