GEORGE BLINN FRANCIS, A.M. (Brown Univ.), born at West Hartford, Connecticut, on the 31st January, 1857, died on the 9th June, 1913.
He was educated at Hartford High School and obtained practical experience on the Providence Waterworks.
From 1881 to 1902 he was occupied on a variety of important railway survey and construction work for the New York, West Shore and Buffalo, the Northern Pacific, the South Pennsylvania, the New York Central and Hudson River Railroads and other companies. He also designed warehouses, docks, ferries, and other works.
Experience gained in the construction of the South Terminal Station, Boston, led him to specialize in this branch of engineering, and as Consulting Civil Engineer to Westinghouse, Church, Kerr and Company, he was associated with a large number of important railway undertakings in America. He was a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the author of many technical Papers.
Mr. Francis wits elected a Member of The Institution on the 5th February, 1901.
