Fuller, Smith and Turner
Brewers, of Chiswick
c.1650 Brewing started in the gardens of Bedford House on Chiswick Mall.
Early 1800s: Douglas and Henry Thompson and Philip Wood were the owner; money problems forced them to seek a partner.
1829 John Fuller, of Neston Park, Wiltshire, joined the enterprise but the partnership proved a difficult one.
1841 Douglas Thompson fled to France and the partnership was dissolved.
1845 Fuller's son, John Bird Fuller, was joined by Henry Smith from the Romford Brewery of Ind & Smith and his brother-in-law, head brewer, John Turner, thereby forming Fuller Smith & Turner.
1909 Acquired the Beehive Brewery in Brentford with its 34 pubs.
1929 Limited Company formed. Descendants of the early partners still heavily involved in the day to day running of the company.
Three of Fuller’s beers – London Pride, ESB and Chiswick Bitter – have been named Champion Beer of Britain.
2005 After a gap of 20 years, Fuller’s introduced a new year-round cask ale, Discovery Blonde Beer.
2005 Fuller’s acquired George Gale and Co Ltd, of Horndean, Hampshire with 111 pubs and HSB and Festival Mild beers.
