Fuel Research Board
1917 Established by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research to investigate the character and use of coal and other fuels and fuel products[1]. George Thomas Beilby was the first Chairman and Director of Research
1918 Set up the Fuel Research Station at Greenwich
1932 Sir Harold Hartley was appointed chairman
1958 the Fuel Research Board was replaced by a steering committee of the Research Council and the fuel research station was closed.
