Friedrich Gottlob Koenig (1774 - 1833) was a German inventor best known for his high-speed printing press, which he built together with watchmaker Andreas Friedrich Bauer.
1804 Koenig moved to London
1810 He was granted a patent on his printing press
1812 First trial run of press in April 1812 in great secrecy, for fear of upsetting existing press makers.
1814 The first issue of The Times printed with the new presses was published on November 29, 1814.
1817 Koenig returned to Germany. Set up a factory at Würzburg for Koenig & Bauer.
