FREDERICK I. SANDERSON died on January 8, 1929, at his home in Claygate, Surrey, at the age of forty-seven.
His business career commenced when he joined the staff of the late Colonel J. T. North, who had extensive nitrate interests in Chili.
In 1904 he joined Messrs. Jeremiah Head & Son, who were at that time European agents of the Wellman Seaver Morgan Co.; he also acted as secretary of the Otis Steel Co., Ltd.
In 1905 Mr. Sanderson was appointed secretary of Wellman, Seaver and Head, Ltd., which office he held until 1916. In 1914 he was appointed a director of the company, and in 1917 became joint managing director. Later, when this company was merged into the Wellman Smith Owen Engineering Corporation, Ltd., he became a director and commercial manager.
For many years he had handled the Continental business of the Wellman companies, and he was a director of the Societe Anonyme Wellman Smith Owen (France); his interests also extended to the United States of America.
He joined the Iron and Steel Institute in 1917.
