FREDERIC JULIUS MACAULAY, born at Antrim on the 14th July, 1830, died at Clapham on the 18th July, 1912, aged 82.
He was first employed in connection with land improvements in North Ireland and was subsequently Assistant Agent for Lord Leitrim’s Donegal property.
Entering the Secretary’s department of the London and South Western Railway in 1850, he was appointed Assistant Secretary in 1865 and became Secretary in 1880.
On his retirement in 1898 he was elected a Director of the Company
and Chairman of the Engineering and Finance Committee, a
position which he retained until his death.
Mr. Macaulay was elected an Associate of The Institution on the 10th January, 1893.
