FRANK PERCY had an extensive experience as a colliery and industrial engineer and was well known in Lancashire and the Midlands, where he had for thirty years represented with great ability the interests of Messrs. Andrew Barclay, Sons, and Company, of Kilmarnock. He was born in 1873 and apprenticed to Messrs. Wood and Gee, iron founders, of Wigan, from 1889 to 1894. During the same period he received his technical education at the Wigan Mining and Technical School, with which he retained a connection for some years as assistant instructor in engineering.
On the completion of his apprenticeship he entered the drawing office of Messrs. Wood and Gee, and subsequently held appointments as mechanical engineer to various collieries and steelworks until he began his long association with Messrs. Andrew Barclay. He maintained his connection with the latter firm until his death, which occurred on 8th January 1942.
Mr. Percy was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1901.
