FRANK Moo was managing director for over twenty-six years of Messrs. Joseph Barton and Sons' textile mills at Nachod, Czechoslovakia, containing 85,300 spindles and 900 looms with a personnel of over 1,000. He was also responsible for the erection and maintenance of the 3,000 h.p. electrical power station supplying the mill with power.
Mr. Moc was born at Nachod in 1879, and received a two years' course of training at the Technical School for Weaving and Spinning at Nachod. He also studied for three years at the Royal College for Engineering, Prague, and for two years at the Oldham Technical School, and later served a twelve months' apprenticeship with Messrs. Dobson and Barlow of Bolton, and a further twelve months with Messrs. Asa Lees of Oldham.
From 1901 to 1905 Mr. Moc was assistant manager at textile mills in Bohm, Skalitz and Parnik. He was also actively engaged in the affairs of other important commercial undertakings. He was the founder of the Czechoslovakian Textile Institute, based upon the lines of the Manchester Textile Institute, and also contributed to various textile periodicals.
Mr. Hoc was elected a Member of the Institution in 1929.
His death occurred on 8th August 1932.
