Francis Charles Wenger was born in 1904 and received his engineering education at Loughborough College, where he gained a diploma.
On leaving the college he took up a position with Rolls-Royce, but his promising career was cut short by a fatal road accident in France in March, 1928.
He was elected a Probationary Graduate of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1923.
