1880 William Fisher invented the Fisher Type 1 constant pressure pump governor

1880 He founded the company in Marshalltown, Iowa.

1884 Fisher obtained a patent for the Fisher Type 1.

1888 Incorporated as Fisher Governor Company.

1905 William Fisher died.

1912 Jasper Fisher, the founder's son, took control of the company.

1938 Jasper Fisher died.

1940 Edna Fisher, Jasper's widow, became president.

1957 Acquired Continental Equipment Company of Pennsylvania.

1963 Acquired by Monsanto

1969 Change of name to Fisher Controls Company.

1975 Acquired Marshall Die Casting.

1979 Fisher was merged with part of the GEC to form Fisher Controls Corporation.

1981 The company changed its name to Fisher Controls International.

1985 Acquired Posi-Seal International.

1992 Monsanto sold Fisher to Emerson Electric Company.

1993 Merged with Rosemount Incorporated merge to form Fisher-Rosemount.

2001 Fisher-Rosemount renamed Emerson Process Management.
