1879 Frank Ashwell commenced business on his own account in Leicester, as a manufacturer particularly of warming and ventilating appliances for use in public buildings, of which a large number were so fitted up by him in various localities, including asylums, municipal and county buildings, banks and schools.

1883 David Mein Nesbit became manager of the warming and ventilating department.
