Ernest Michaux

Ernest Michaux was the son of Pierre Michaux.

  • 1861, according to his brother, Henry, one of Pierre's customers brought in a draisinne (hobby-horse) for repair; Pierre suggested fitting a cranked axle to the front wheel hub. Ernest implemented the change. As a result, Pierre and Ernest are thought of as the inventors of the bicycle with pedals.
