1859 Sale Notice[1]:-

STEAM AND WATER-POWER PAPER WORKS FOR SALE. TO BE SOLD By Auction, at the SUN INN, in ULVERSTON in the County Laucaster, .... ALL those Valuable and Commodious STEAM and WATER POWER PAPER WORKS, situate in THE ELLERS, in Ulverstone aforesaid, known by the name of THE ELLERS PAPER MILL, Consisting of the Building now used as a Paper Mill, Dwelling House for the Occupation of the Overlooker, and Three Workmen's Cottages, with the Water privileges, Dams, Yards, Offices, Warehouses, and other Outbuildings occupied therewith, and the
MACHINERY AND DRIVING POWER, Following, viz.,— One Steam Engine, 16 Horse-power, made by Peel and Williams, Manchester; One Cylindrically shaped Steam Boiler of Horse power, made Galloway, of Manchester, with all necessary Furnace Works, Fittings, and Mountings, and a substantial Brick-bed. One Water Wheel, 20 feet diameter by 5 feet wide, made by Whittaker, of Walton-le-dale, one Water Wheel, 19 feet diameter by 2 feet 6 inches wide, with all their Troughs, Forebays, Clows, and Gearing. Five Rag Engines, (two of them nearly new,) with their Spurs, Gearing, Shafts, Wheels, Fixings, Pipes, and Tape. One large Rag Boiler, one Dye Boiler, one large Stone half stuff Chest. One Paper Machine, for 54 inch Paper, with Stuff Chests, Vats, Agitators, Copper Rolls, Couch Rolls, Steam and Water Pipes, Bearings, and Brass Steps. One Cutting Machine, by Park, of Bury. Two Hydraulic Pump Presses, with 10 inch and 6 inch Rams, made by Peel and Williams, all in good working order. Charging Scales with Weights, Finishing Benches, Desk, Safe, and Office Fittings, &c.
Also, DWELLING HOUSE, Adjoining the Mill, and fronting the Ellers, with a large Garden lying behind the same; and TWO FIELDS, Adjoining the Mill, called " Eller Mill Fields," containing about Two Acres, statute measure, or thereabouts. The Paper Mill, Overlooker's Dwelling-house, Fields, and Workmen's Cottages, have been occupi«d by Messrs. Hadwin and Long, Paper Makers, for upwards of 12 years, and the Dwelling House and Garden are occupied by Edward Kellet, Millwright.
Also, a WAREHOUSE, COAL YARD, and GARDEN, adjoining the Ellers Mill Fields, and fronting Ratten Row, in the occupation of Thomas Nicholson. Also, a large Building, formerly used as a SAIL CLOTH MANUFACTORY, situate in the Ellers, and fronting the Paper Mill, with JOINER'S SHOP, and THREE COTTAGES adjoining, in the respective occnpatious of Michael Caddy, William Lindow, Thompson Bond, and Thomas Fox. The respective Tenants will shew the Premises, and a Plan thereof may seen, and any further information obtained at the Office of R. Francis Yarker, Solicitor, Ulverston. R.
