1950 In a move to concentrate electric lamp production, Thorn Electrical Industries acquired 51% of Ekco-Ensign Electric; lamp production at the Southend factory ceased; the Preston factory was expanded[1]. The sales organisations would continue to be separate - the Ekco Ensign Company would thereby be more competitive.
1961 Manufacturers and distributors of "Tungsten" and fluorescent lamps and lighting fittings, makers of all types of lamps including car, tubular and projector lamps. 600 employees. [2]
