EDWIN GEORGE ADLAM was formerly senior partner and head of George Adlam and Sons, Ltd., Bristol, engineers and foundrymen, and had been associated with the family firm throughout his professional career, including his apprenticeship, which he served from 1890 to 1896. He was educated at Weston-super-Mare College and the Merchant Venturers' Technical College, Bristol.
His first employment with the firm was that of head draughtsman and after holding this position for four years he was made outside manager in 1900. In this capacity he was engaged in superintending and erecting various engineering works in all parts of Great Britain.
He became senior partner in 1904 and continued personally to direct the management of the business until 1928, when he retired.
Mr. Adlam had been a Member of the Institution since 1908.
His death in his seventy-eighth year occurred on 2nd November 1950.
