1863 Edward Tomlinson, Tomlinson and Jones, Engineers, Elm Street Works, Manchester.[1]

1861 Patent sealed: Edward Tomlinson, of Manchester, engineer, and manufacturer of cop tubes by patent machinery, for an improved apparatus for facilitating the placing of cop tubes in the spindles of spinning and doubling machines; dated Jan. 1, 1861. [2].

1865 Patent sealed during the week ending April 15th, 1865: Edward Tomlinson and John Jones, Manchester, engineers, improvements in machinery or apparatus for breaking the husks of cotton-pods, and opening and spreading the cotton from the same. [3]
