c1816 Born at Durham

1851 Living at Woodbank, Brisco, Cumberland: Edward Pattinson (age 35 born Durham), Engineer and Iron Manufacturer.[1] Note: In the adjoining dwelling is John Cowans

1861 Living at 5 Bolton Place, Rickergate, Carlisle: Edward P. Sheldon (age 46 born Jarrow), Iron Founder Master employing 86 men and 35 boys. With his sister Sarah Ann Sheldon (age 30 born Jarrow). One servant.[2]

1871 Living at 10 Bolton Place, Rickergate, Carlisle: Edward P. Sheldon (age 56 born Jarrow), Engineer employing 110 men and 14 boys. With his sisters Anabella Sheldon (age 45 born Jarrow) and Sarah Ann Sheldon (age 28 born Jarrow). Two servants.[3]
