EDWARD JONES was born in Liverpool in 1862.
He was educated at Liverpool College and at the Technical Schools till 1881, and served his apprenticeship from 1875 to 1880 with Mr. William Bruce at the engineering works, Canada Dock, Liverpool, remaining with him as draughtsman till 1883.
He then acted successively as works engineer for three years to the Liverpool Gas Light Co., and as assistant engineer for two years to the Sligo Gas Light Co.; in the latter post he superintended the erection of new works.
From 1888-93 he was Manager of the Ellesmere Gas Works, from 1893-1900 Gas and Water Engineer and Surveyor to the New Mills Urban District Council, and from 1900-1906 Gas Engineer and Manager to the Pontypridd Urban District Council, during which time he designed and carried out various extensions.
In 1906 he was appointed Engineer and Manager to the Burslem Corporation Gas Works, where he remained till his decease, which took place at Burslem on 7th March 1914, in his fifty-third year.
He was elected a Member of this Institution in 1907; he was also a Member of Council of the Institution of Gas Engineers, and had been a Vice-President of the South Wales Institute of Gas Engineers.
