Edward Johns and Co, of Armitage, Staffordshire, makers of sanitary ware.

Mid-1800s Pottery established.

1867 The pottery was purchased by the Rev. Edward Johns.

1893 Edward Johns died.

1900 The company was bought by Corn Brothers [1]

1907 Company incorporated to acquire a business of a sanitary pottery manufacturer

1936 Linked in some way with Richards of Tunstall - see advert

1958 Melbourne factory opened to make vitreous chinaware.

1958 Acquired Markes and Co of Cannock

1960 Name changed to Armitage Ware Ltd

1963 Acquired Johnson Fireclay Ltd

1965 Public company

1966 Cope Allman sold Troman Brothers and Phillips and Rabone, makers of sanitary fittings in brass and plastic, to Armitage Ware[2]

1969 Armitage Ware Ltd merged with Shanks and Co to create Armitage Shanks.
