EDWARD GOLDING BARTON, a son of James Barton, was born on the 28th January, 1852, and died in India in January, 1913.
After graduating in Arts and Engineering at Trinity College, Dublin, he served a pupilage to his father, and was subsequently employed as Resident Engineer on the construction of several railways in the North of Ireland.
In 1884 he was appointed Resident Engineer on a section of the Bengal-Nagpur Railway, and on its completion became District Engineer at Darbhanga, Bengal, in charge of public works.
Mr. Barton was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 1st February, 1881, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 4th March, 1884.
