EDWARD ALLEN, Past President, Chief Engineer to the Liverpool Gas Company, died at Liverpool on the 15th July, 1915.
Born in 1850, he entered the Gas Company's service at the age of 14, and after completing his training became Resident Engineer at the Linacre Works.
He was appointed Chief Assistant Engineer in 1881, and Chief Engineer in 1904, completing 50 years service shortly before his death. He was associated with many developments and improvements, and, held many offices in the gas industry.
He was a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Past President of the Institution of Gas Engineers.
Mr. Allen was elected a Member of the Liverpool Engineering Society on the 19th February, 1896, and President in 1910.
